The First thematic CERN School of Computing
3 June, 2013 @ 08:00 - 7 June, 2013 @ 17:00
In 2013, in addition to the main summer school, we inaugurate a new event: a short (one week) thematic school (i.e. focused on one theme) with a limited number of participants.
This first tCSC2013 will take place 3rd -7th June in Split, Croatia and is independent from the 2013 CERN School of Computing to be held in August. All participants are welcome, including the former and future CSC participants in the main summer school.
The registration is open and will close the 31st of January 2013. We are fully aware of the difficult financial period of many public institutions and we managed to arrange a very reasonable fee.
The theme of the 1st thematic CSC is Mastering state of the art computing, covering:
- Data oriented design: Designing for data, data-intensive applications, vectorization
- Memory programming: Memory effects in hardware, choosing data structures, non-uniform memory
- Parallelism: Threads, tasks, problems and overheads, parallelization technologies and environments
- Efficient computing: Architecture refresher (big and small cores), accurate and efficient floating point, compilers: their strengths and weaknesses, advanced performance monitoring and tuning
Links to the programme, practical information as well as how to apply.
You are most welcome to pass-on this information to colleagues potentially interested, within or outside CERN.
Best Regards.
