eSSENCE-EMMC Meeting 2020

8 June, 2020

Welcome to the eSSENCE-EMMC Meeting 2020
“Multiscale modelling of materials and molecules – in complex systems”

New!  On April 15 we decided to have a virtual meeting this year given the situation with Covid-19. It will take place on June 8.

Stay tuned!  More program details and registration details will appear shortly.

Multiscale modelling (coupling & linking of models) is a central theme in computer simulations/calculations of complex systems, and it is also a central theme of this meeting.  Advanced methods and models are needed to bridge the scales. They combine physics-based and data-driven approaches and help modellers to identify new relations and descriptors, and embark on new S&T fields, including complex realistic industrial problems.

All these aspects exemplify the essence of our meeting. We will use the term multiscale in an open and inclusive sense at this meeting.  There will be a number of dedicated sessions including…

  • New methods, models and codes
  • Multiscale modelling  (including physics-based + data-driven)
  • Batteries and energy materials
  • Exciting modelling applications
  • Industrial modelling
  • And more …

Invited keynote speakers:

  • Tejs Vegge (DTU Energy, Technical U of Denmark, Lyngby, DK)
    Battery 2030+ and multiscale modelling.
  • Anatole von Lilienfeld (Inst of Physical Chemistry & more,  U of Basel, CH)
“Searching through molecular compound space using alchemy and quantum machine learning.”
  • Peter Coveney  (Director of the Centre for Computational Science (CCS), University College London, UK)
“Big data: The end of the scientific method?”
  • TBA:  “Latest developments in DFTB (density functional tight binding)-methods.”
  • TBA:   “Is there a role for electronic and atomistic detail in industrial modelling?”

Detailed and up to date information here.
